THIS NOTICE IS GIVEN PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 21, CODE OF IOWA AND THE LOCAL RULES OF SAID GOVERNMENTAL BODY. POSTED: August 18, 2026.
MINUTES
President Herold called the Cresco Park and Recreation meeting to order on 08/19/2026, at 6:30 pm at the Cresco Fitness Center (CFC). Board Members Herold, Hovden and Myers were present. Johnson was absent.
Also Present: Brandon Kerian and Rich McConnell
Hovden made the motion to approve the consent agenda which included the approval of the agenda; claims, and minutes of the July 15, 2026 meeting. Myers seconded the motion, and it passed all ayes. Other Business: Secretary Hovden noted a correction to the July 15, 2026 minutes: the Fit Fest date was recorded in error and has been amended to August 22, 2026.

Kerian reported on the Fitness Center:
Kerian requested approval to hire Keagen Gaul and Isaiah Sorenson as lifeguards at a rate of $12.00 per hour. Myers motioned to hire Keagen Gaul and Isaiah Sorenson as lifeguards at the rate of $12.00 per hour. Herold seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.
Kerian provided an update on the new Cresco Fitness Center building.
Kerian reported on Parks:
An update was provided on Evans Park. Turf was installed around the new playground. The playground is projected to be available for public use within four to five days.
Kerian reported on Recreation:
Elite Soccer has expanded and will offer a Fall program, with approximately 45 players signed up thus far. Flag Football and Volleyball will be starting soon.
Hovden moved to adjourn at 7:35pm. Myers seconded, and it passed all ayes. The next regular Cresco Park and Rec meeting is scheduled for September 9, 2026 at 6:00 pm at CFC.
