Mayor Fortune called the Cresco City Council special meeting to order on April 6, 2026 at 5:03 pm. Council Members Carman, Wolfe, Fosaaen, McConnell, and Kriener were present. No council members were absent.

Mayor Fortune opened the Public Hearing on the proposed property tax levy for fiscal year ending June 30, 2027. Larry Leliefeld asked for clarification on the tax statement. City Clerk Hill explained that Howard County Auditor is now required to send the notices that were mailed to residents that includes hearing information and projected tax information. She explained that most of the City levy rates are decreasing with the overall rate going from $17.13674 down to $16.12916. Mayor Fortune explained that, due to state changes, the City may be forced to possibly reduce services in the coming years to balance the budget. Leliefeld expressed gratitude for all the services the City currently offers. Chance Hayes had questions regarding school taxes. Hill explained that he would have to attend a school board meeting or call the school with those questions. No written objection were received.

Carman moved to adjourn the Council Meeting at 5:19 pm. McConnell seconded and it passed all ayes. The next regular Cresco City Council meeting will be April 6, 2026, at 5:30 pm at Cresco City Hall.
