THIS NOTICE IS GIVEN PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 21, CODE OF IOWA AND THE LOCAL RULES OF SAID GOVERNMENTAL BODY. POSTED: May 13, 2025.
MINUTES
President Herold called the Cresco Park and Recreation meeting to order on 5/14/2025, at 5:01 pm at the Cresco Fitness Center (CFC). Board Members Denner, Herold, Hovden and O’Brien were present. Myers was absent.
Also Present: Brandon Kerian and Rich McConnell
Obrien made the motion to approve the consent agenda which included the approval of the agenda; claims, and minutes of the April 9, 2025 meeting. Denner seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.
Other Business: Discussed some questions/concerns from community members.

Kerian reported on the Fitness Center: Memberships: General memberships are at 860 and 24/7 access memberships are at 174 – both are up!
Employees: Denner made the motion to hire the following as Lifeguards: Aurick Casper, Tate Cummings, Cody Sobolik, and Ashton Inzillo. The following as Seasonal Concessions: Delilah Lopez, Tara Koshatka, Livia McCabe, Lydia Frana and Ann Casper. The Following as Recreation: Reid Wiley. O’Brien seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.
Wages/Structure: Hovden made the motion to implement wage increases for our part-time employees (Lifeguards, Recreation, Maintenance, Front Desk and Aerobics Instructions) effective 5/17. Denner seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.
City has approved a 3.5% raise for all full-time employees. Tabled conversation for next month. Kerian will provide current salary information to review.
Facility Hours: Denner made the motion to temporarily close the Fitness Center on Sundays starting May 25 through the month of June for hiring, training and maintenance. Starting May 27 through Labor Day the Fitness Center will close at 8pm Monday-Thursday. 24/7 will remain accessible. Hovden seconded the motion and it passed all ayes.
Kerian reported on Parks: Facilities: There is a lot of vandalism. Going to make some public pleas to the public to help keep the parks and facilities safe and clean. If it doesn’t help, we will have to discuss alternatives.
O’Brien moved to adjourn at 5:45 pm. Denner seconded and it passed all ayes. The next regular Cresco Park and Rec meeting is scheduled for June 4, at 12:00 pm at CFC.
