Cresco Park & Recreation
2023-24 Basketball Program
The registration for this year’s Park & Rec. Basketball is online. Before logging in, reference this booklet for students in grades 1-6 for specific activity dates and times along with grade eligibility. All grades mentioned in this program correlate with the 2023-2024 school year.
Early registration is encouraged to give us proper time to plan for the activities.
EVERYONE MUST FILL OUT THE ONLINE REGISTRATION.
Once you begin the registration process, you must complete it entirely. Data typed into the online form
will not be saved. Once you submit your registration and we receive it, an email of confirmation will be sent to the email address you provide.
- Complete the online registration and pay with debit or credit card.
- Complete the online registration and pay with cash or check.
Drop off or mail registration with payment at: Cresco Fitness Center 316 3rd Ave E, Cresco IA 52136
(If you mail, please include a copy of the emailed registration you receive.)
- Complete the online registration using the Fitness Center computer with front desk assistance.
FINANCIAL NEED ASSISTANCE: Funds may be available through the Howard County Community Action Office (563) 547-4413 if you or your family cannot afford to pay all or some of the fees for activities listed on the registration form. It is the intention of the Cresco Park & Recreation that your child(ren) be able to participate in all activities they choose. We do not want the fees to stand in the way.
If you qualify, fill out the online form and pay directly at the Fitness Center.

PRO & JUNIOR BOYS/GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fee $40.00 (Non-member $65.00) Fitness Center Gym
Grades 3-6 (23-24)
Program Duration: Monday Nights, December 4-December 18, January 8-February 5
Our Pro (5th & 6th) and Junior (3rd & 4th) basketball programs focus on teaching fundamental skills, implementing advanced techniques, and introducing game-like scenarios with the intention of becoming better basketball players. With registration, participants receive automatic entry into our Skills Competition and are rostered for our regular season practices and games. Upon completion of practices and Skills Competition, regular/post season games (including a Championship) will be played against other teams of the same gender and score will be kept.

December 4 and 18: Practice
December 11: Skills Competition
December 25 and January 1: OFF
January 8, 15, 22: Regular Season Games (January 8 = Picture Day)
January 29: Playoff Games
February 5: Playoff Games (Championships)
Junior Boys & Girls (3rd/4th Grades) Times: 6:15-7:00pm*
Pro Boys & Girls (5th/6th Grade) Times: 7:00-7:45pm*
*These are times for December 4 & 18 practices as well as the Skills Competition
Official rosters and specific game times will be posted before the holiday break. This is to allow for volunteers coaches to hold any practices with their team if they wish. Teams will be designated by various colors & names during games and will be detailed on the official roster/game schedule. Players will be asked to wear new basketball shirts each week or a same colored shirt as rostered team if not purchasing a shirt. Cresco Park and Rec. basketball shirts will be available to purchase at the CFC Front Desk starting in December: cost: $15.00.
The teams are coached by parents/volunteers and games are refereed by Park & Rec. staff/volunteers. We need parents/volunteers willing to coach these teams! If you are willing, please indicate so on the registration form.

In the event of severe weather, all cancellations will be made 30 minutes prior to the start of the event and be posted on the City of Cresco website and Cresco Fitness Center/ Cresco Parks and Rec Facebook pages.

Our Biddy basketball program is great way to introduce the game to first and second graders. With a heavy emphasis on basic fundamentals, while also implementing game-like scenarios, participants will receive an automatic entry into our Skills Competition and are rostered for our regular season practices and games. Upon completion of practices and Skills Competition, regular/post season games (including a Championship) will be played against other CO-ED teams and score will be kept.

March 2023 Free Throw Contest (Additional information to be posted closer to date)
*February 5 will consist of championship games for all divisions based on the previous week’s winning and losing teams. Overall champions of the winner’s bracket will receive a team trophy to celebrate with along with 1st place medals. Winning teams of the loser’s bracket will receive a team trophy to celebrate with.
